Online Gambling

A huge fad I have seen arise in the past year or two is online gambling. While poker itself has become big, the people playing it online have skyrocketed. In High School I had friends who spent lots of time playing online. Some played for fake money for fun but others put their cash on the line. Giving people the ability to go to an online casino and play $1000 hands with people around the world. It also allows for those usually underage for casinos to participate. People still need to be 18 or have parents use their credit cards but its cool when you are too young to go into a casino. The biggest danger in this is obviously the increase in ability for those with gambling addictions to play. Staying away from Casinos is one thing but the constant pop ups seen online for gambling is rediculous. I get more junk mail and popups for gambling then i do for porn. One of the guys on my floor plays online poker all the time. I can't believe the amount of time the guy spends sitting there but its everyday. Last month he made some outrageous amount of money and I was surprised but so far this month he is doing very poorly. So poorly he won't even tell me how much he is down. To my knowledge a real bad day for him was being down $13,000. So if he won't tell me its gotta be aweful. I think he should cut back and have told him so but its too prevelant, you can't hide from it.

As cool as it is many don't realize the inheirant dangers involved.

Gambling online From Wen Lo

I agree gambling is a bad thing to do, I have been to Reno, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. After all those Casinos, I have one thing to tell everyone you can never win. No matter how much you are up you will usually loose everything just as fast as you made it. I have played on Paradise poke.com and know their are real addicts on the net, They cannot handle the pressure from their lives. I bet very little money when I play poker, but I love to play good games though. Poker is a game of strategy and fun with friends. However, it is not a good reflection on what is real. Winning is rarer than nil.

Online Poker

I completely agree with you. Online poker, or any game for that matter, is bad news for people with gambling problems. My sister used to work at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut dealing Black Jack and Roulette. When I was younger, she brought home the cards and the chips and taught me how to play Black Jack. She also told me how the casinos make their money, and let me tell you the house ALWAYS wins. Some people, of course, walk out of the casino richer than they were when they arrived, but that is not how the casinos make their money. They draw people in who struggle with gambling problems, and even if these people win, they end up losing it all over again in the hopes of winning even more. My sister said some people were so bad that they'd bring their children and leave them in the car or walking around for the day. I'm sure these people are taking advantage of the online games as well as the real thing. There should be some sort of limit as to how much you can play online.

Yeah...It's addictive-Walton Luu

I use to gamble online and I have to say it's extremely addictive. I knew from the start that there was no way I could win, yet the more I loss the more I was drawn to it. Online gambling or gambling in general have this hook on people; perhaps its the thought that there is a chance that they would win lots of money. People should cut back, gambling is really bad for peoples' health.
